Heterogeneous catalysts, especially those produced with functionalized clays, can be used for methyl transesterification at moderate temperatures. The use of bentonite clay by potassium compounds (KF, KOH, K2CO3, KCl and K2SO4) in the cottonseed oil is object present study. catalysts were contacting aqueous solutions subsequent drying. characterized Hammett indicators to determine alkalinity. reactions made a flask stirring reflux 70°C 2 h. performance evaluation reaction was carried out using regression between absorption band area concentration biodiesel-oil mixture infrared spectroscopy. catalytic activity directly associated alkaline character catalysts. K2SO4 did not show conversion reaction, while KF, KOH K2CO3 showed greater than 90%.
